

DEREK VELEZ PARTRIDGE
DIRECTOR/EDITOR/PRODUCER
Derek Partridge, founder of Vista Clara Productions, has been producing and directing for over fifteen years. His diverse work includes writing and directing a feature film, a music video, several short narratives and commercials. Over the last few years, Derek has been working with a team of talented writers to conceptualize ideas for films and transform them into scripts.
The Miracle of Spanish Harlem is Derek's second feature-length film. The film, written by Carlos Bermudez, depicts a tale of love, faith and redemption in the lives of a widower and his two young children. His on-going project, The Book of Kringle, is an illustrated children's book has inspired the idea for an interactive website for children and their families, where kids will be encouraged to write letters to Santa. Derek is developing a screenplay of The Book of Kringle, and will direct the feature-length 3D film.
ED MARTIN
PRODUCER
Ed Martin, a New York native, began his career in finance in 1991 as a corporate auditor. He has since been treasurer for the New York State Assembly and Senate Political campaigns, as well as financial advisor for the New York State Congress and New York City Borough President Campaigns. Ed's financial background led him to line production, in 2001. Since his transition into film, he has produced and co-produced various music videos, commercials, short films, documentaries and independent features. He has line produced several feature films and TV programs for networks such as MTV, Spike TV, HBO and Nickelodeon.
Ed has provided crew and consultation for various major motion-pictures such as Hitch, Spiderman 3, American Gangster and I am Legend, as well as television shows; The Sopranos, 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. Ed collaborates with the Tribeca, Urban World and HBO's NY International Latino film festivals and the NY IFP Market. Additionally, he conducts lectures and seminars on film production, line producing and film distribution at prestigious universities including NYU, SVA, Pace and Harvard.
Ed is a filmmaking panelist for the NALIP Annual Conference, as well as a judge for The New York Emmy® Awards National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
He is a Partner and Producer of Vista Clara Productions in Kaufman Astoria Studios.
KAREN TORRES
CO-PRODUCER
Karen Torres began her varied career in Television, Film and Theatre during the 80’s starting as a Programming Assistant at WCBS-TV in New York. By early 90’s, she moved on to feature film as a Production Assistant on the major feature Carlito’s Way starring Al Pacino continuing to work on the Indie classic Party Girl starring Parker Posey, Micheal J. Fox’s Spin City, Paul Simon’s The Capeman on Broadway starring Marc Anthony. Karen created El Bodeguero Productions and produced, wrote and directed her first independent feature film, Pleasant Dreams whichpremiered at Urban World Film Festival and was presented the Horace Mann Award as Woman of the Year for her work as a Latina film maker.
In 2000, Karen was Creative Director for Urban Box Office’s Latinflava.com producing video content for the website as well as journalistic pieces highlighting urban artists in all arenas of media. Karen became an Associate Producer at Galavision producing for Telemundo’s Galascene. From there Karen was Segment Producer for Nickelodeon, Nick at Night, MTV, PBS-TV, Bravo Television, HBO (Rosie Perez Show), Univision (John Leguizamo,). Karen continued to work on feature films such as HBO’s Maria Full of Grace, Washington Heights, When Mambo was King, Indocumentados, Machetero, and Jennifer Lopez’s El Cantante. Later on, Karen produced and directed the documentary Outside Lookin’ In, a commentary on urban youth and 911 currently part of the Media Watch program at Berkeley University. Karen produced and wrote the Off-Broadway production Women of Nine-Audition For Life starring CSIMiami’s Eva La Rue.
Karen has worked with the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival since its inception in 2000 in Marketing, Publicity, Sponsorship, and Premiere Talent Coordinator. In 2005, Karen worked in development for Sonny Grosso, Executive Producer of Grosso-Jacobson Productions in Casting and Development for A & E productions such as Kings of South Beach and Hallmark Movie Channel’s Citizen Jane. Karen also worked with 15 time Grammy Award Winner, Phil Ramone and his partner, Sonny Grosso on their stage production Be My Love.
Most recently, Karen wrapped as Associate Producer and Casting on the feature The Miracle of Spanish Harlem. She is the mom of Chelsea and Ashley Cox.
CARLOS R. BERMUDEZ
WRITER
Carlos R. Bermudez began his career in 1995 when he received his first writing assignment on Valdez, an NBC pilot starring Cheech Marin and Bill Macy. From there he went on to create the first original Spanish language sitcom produced in Hollywood, Los Beltrán. Carlos has been a show-runner and head writer for a critically acclaimed series that earned a Golden Eagle Award, an Alma Award, an Imágen Award and two GLAAD Award nominations over a period of two years. The popularity and success of Los Beltrán has allowed Carlos to write two pilot scripts for Columbia TriStar and one for PAX TV.
Throughout his career, Carlos has written ten screenplays, developed six original television scripts and has been consulting on PBS' Emmy Award winning show, A Place of Our Own / Los Niños en su Casa. He has recently written a screenplay for DB Entertainment based on the myth of La Llorona. He wrote the screenplay, The Miracle of Spanish Harlem, for Vista Clara Productions.
PATRICIA FERNANDEZ
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Patricia Fernandez graduated with a BA in Media Arts and Communications from Rutgers University. Her career in the entertainment industry began working as an Assistant Graphics Producer for HBO Sports. She worked on World Championship Boxing, On the Record with Bob Costas, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and HBO Latino's Boxeo de Oro.
She works as the Filmmaker Liaison Manager and Coordinator for Film Festivals such as the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) and the Tribeca Film Festival. Her passion for filmmaking led her to Film Production. She has worked on numerous films as a Production Coordinator, Unit Production Manager and Producer. Her production management skills and experience have been recognized by the Independent Filmmaking community as well as Major Studio Producers as demonstrated by her wide range of film productions from Independents like "The Perfect Date" to films such as "Marker" distributed by Sony and Universal Studios' "EGO". Her career also includes work on various productions including Documentaries such as HBO Films' "Good Hair", starring Chris Rock, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival and the Travel Channels' Dream Riders as well as several commercials for companies such as AXE, Colgate, Porta Communications and many music videos for Diamond and Platinum recording artists including Shaggy and Jennifer Lopez for record labels Sony BMG, VP Records, and Epic Records. She's produced print advertisements for the Got Milk ad campaign, Pantene Hair Products and Levis Jeans and various online media ads.
She is an active and recognized member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), Independent Feature Project (IFP), Shooting People, New York Emmy® Awards National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Women in Film (WIF) and has worked with The Gay &Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). She is fluent in Spanish with a basic knowledge of Portuguese and Brazilian.
ELENI GOROS
PRODUCTION COORDINATOR
Eleni graduated from Queens College with a BA in Film Studies in 2007. However she has been working in the film industry since 2004. She has worked on numerous commercials, music videos and short films. She first started at Vista Clara Productions in 2004 as a production assistant and has worked her way up to being a production coordinator with Vista Clara Productions on the film The Miracle of Spanish Harlem.
